Yvonne Schick
Libertarian Political Activist

Yvonne Schick was born in Blanco, Texas and grew up in San Antonio. She graduated with honors, fourth in her class, at McCollum High School in San Antonio in 1966. Though she had a full scholarship to the prestigious Rice University, the whims of youth took her into the business world early.

Using her intelligence and hard work, Yvonne quickly rose in the burgeoning computer industry until she was a Region Manager with a major software company managing offices in Houston and Dallas, 24 staff, and a region including 8 states. Yvonne began working with her husband in real estate management while gaining a reputation in sales training and consulting with entrepreneurs and small practice professionals. In the mid-1980s, Yvonne joined her husband, Ken, in the company he founded which became a major player in the emerging assisted living industry. Yvonne played a major role in the strategic planning and management that built the organization until it was purchased by an international publicly-held company and expanded to 25 communities in 8 states with more than 1,000 employees. After a brief excursion living out of the state, Yvonne and Ken returned to their beloved Texas Hill Country in 2004, and continue to work in real estate related projects and investments. They have been married 33 years.

In Houston in the mid 90s, Yvonne was the driving force in organizing what was later to become the FairTax organization, the goal of which is to replace the federal income tax with a national retail sales tax. Under Yvonne's inspired leadership the fledgling Citizens for an Alternative Tax System (CATS) grew into the largest and most effective grassroots tax reform group in the region. Yvonne took the fight for tax reform all the way to the steps of the Capitol while serving on the CATS national board of directors advocating for change and greater equity in taxation.

Yvonne was the Libertarian candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2008.

Liberty — because it's right, because it works.

"I know Yvonne Schick. She's the real deal. I worked with her for several years in tax reform. She deserves a shot at being Senator. You can see her debate the Tweedle-dee & Tweedle-dum candidates this Thursday."
— G. Ashley Lewis, Bastrop, Texas
